What Is a Nefertiti Lift? Jawline and Neck Definition Explained

5 min read

The name Nefertiti lift can make this treatment sound more dramatic than it really is.

It isn't surgery, and it isn't a facelift.

Instead, the Nefertiti lift is a non-surgical aesthetic approach intended for selected patients concerned about the appearance of the lower face, jawline and neck.

At Dr Cotiga Aesthetic Clinic in Warrington, I offer doctor-led consultations for patients interested in Nefertiti lift treatment, with particular attention to facial anatomy, movement, jawline balance, neck contour and realistic expectations.

So what exactly is the procedure, who is it suitable for and what can it realistically achieve?

What is the Nefertiti lift procedure?

The Nefertiti lift is an injectable treatment involving selected muscles around the lower face and neck.

Its unusual name comes from Queen Nefertiti, whose famous ancient Egyptian bust depicts a long, elegant neck and clearly defined jawline.

The treatment isn't designed to reproduce that appearance literally.

Instead, the name has become shorthand within aesthetic medicine for a treatment intended to improve the appearance of the jawline-neck transition in appropriately selected patients.

How does the Nefertiti lift work?

To understand the concept, it helps to understand that facial appearance is influenced not only by skin and fat but also by muscle activity.

One important muscle in the neck is the platysma.

The platysma is a thin superficial muscle extending across the neck towards the lower face. Its activity can contribute to downward pull in the lower-face region and to visible neck bands in some people.

A Nefertiti lift treatment targets selected muscle activity to alter this balance temporarily.

This may help create a more refined appearance around the jawline and neck in appropriately selected patients.

However, the treatment doesn't physically remove loose skin or fat and shouldn't be presented as an alternative capable of reproducing the results of surgical lifting.

What can a Nefertiti lift help with?

Patients may consider consultation because they are concerned about:

  • reduced jawline definition

  • the transition between the jaw and neck

  • visible platysmal activity

  • downward pull affecting the lower face

  • early lower-face ageing

  • neck bands

  • wanting subtle non-surgical refinement

The degree of improvement possible depends considerably on anatomy.

That is why I don't recommend deciding on a Nefertiti lift simply because you have seen somebody else's result.

What can't a Nefertiti lift treat?

This is just as important as discussing what it can do.

A Nefertiti lift doesn't remove significant excess skin.

It doesn't remove substantial fat beneath the chin.

It doesn't replace lost bone structure.

It doesn't reproduce a surgical facelift or neck lift.

And it isn't necessarily the correct treatment for every patient who feels their jawline has become less defined.

Jawline appearance is influenced by numerous structures: bone, fat distribution, skin laxity, chin projection, muscle activity and the relationship between the face and neck.

If the principal problem isn't muscular, treating muscle activity alone may produce limited improvement.

Who is a good candidate for a Nefertiti lift?

There isn't one universal profile.

Suitability needs to be established by examining the patient's anatomy and understanding their concerns.

The treatment may be worth discussing for adults concerned about reduced jawline or neck definition who want a subtle non-surgical option and have realistic expectations.

My current Nefertiti consultation process considers jawline balance, neck contour, movement, skin quality and related concerns such as chin balance.

Why is facial assessment important?

Because "my jawline isn't defined enough" isn't a diagnosis.

Two patients may have exactly the same complaint for completely different anatomical reasons.

One may have strong downward muscular pull.

Another may have loss of skin elasticity.

Another may have a relatively retruded chin.

Another may have submental fullness.

And another may have a combination of several factors.

The treatment plan should follow the anatomy rather than trying to fit every patient into the same procedure.

Will a Nefertiti lift give me a sharper jawline?

Potentially, but expectations need to remain realistic.

The treatment can help improve lower-face and neck appearance in suitable patients, but it doesn't create an entirely new jaw structure.

Patients looking for dramatic structural jawline augmentation may be discussing a completely different treatment objective.

My aesthetic philosophy is generally based on refinement rather than transformation.

A good result should remain proportionate to the rest of the face.

Is a Nefertiti lift the same as jawline filler?

No.

Although both treatments may be discussed by someone concerned about jawline definition, they work very differently.

Dermal filler can be used in selected patients to alter volume, support or contour.

The Nefertiti approach targets muscle activity.

Some patients may be more suited to one approach than the other. Occasionally multiple factors contribute to the concern.

This is why an anatomical assessment is much more useful than choosing a procedure based on its name.

Is a Nefertiti lift surgical?

No.

A Nefertiti lift is a non-surgical injectable aesthetic treatment.

It should not be confused with a surgical facelift or neck lift.

Surgical procedures can address anatomical changes that injectable treatments simply cannot.

Being clear about this distinction is important when establishing realistic expectations.

Is the Nefertiti lift permanent?

No.

The effects of the injectable treatment are temporary.

Muscle activity gradually returns over time.

Duration varies between patients, so I prefer to discuss expected longevity individually rather than promise that every patient will experience the same duration.

Is a Nefertiti lift safe?

As with other injectable aesthetic treatments, there are potential side effects and complications.

The neck and lower face contain important anatomical structures, and treatment requires appropriate anatomical knowledge and careful planning.

Patients should be medically assessed and should understand the potential risks and limitations before treatment.

Not everyone will be suitable.

This is one reason I use a consultation-first approach rather than treating automatically because somebody has requested a particular procedure.

Can I get a Nefertiti lift in the North West of England?

Yes.

Dr Tudor Cotiga provides consultation for Nefertiti lift concerns at Dr Cotiga Aesthetic Clinic in Warrington, conveniently located for patients from Warrington and other parts of the North West.

My clinic is at 65 Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1SU.

Patients also visit from nearby areas including Stockton Heath, Lymm, Great Sankey, Birchwood, Woolston, Appleton and Grappenhall.

How much does a Nefertiti lift cost in Warrington?

At Dr Cotiga Aesthetic Clinic, the current treatment price for a Nefertiti lift is £450.

A £30 consultation deposit is taken when booking and deducted from the cost of treatment if you proceed.

Price should not, however, be the only factor when deciding where to undergo treatment.

Lower-face and neck anatomy is complex, and appropriate assessment, practitioner qualifications, product choice, treatment planning, informed consent and aftercare all matter.

What happens at the consultation?

I first want to understand what the patient dislikes about their lower face or neck.

I then assess the relevant anatomy, including jawline balance, neck contour, movement and skin quality.

We discuss what treatment may realistically achieve and, equally importantly, what it cannot achieve.

If I don't believe the Nefertiti lift is appropriate, I would rather explain that than perform a treatment unlikely to meet the patient's expectations.

Can a Nefertiti lift look natural?

Natural-looking improvement is the objective.

For many patients, successful aesthetic treatment isn't something that should immediately announce itself.

The patient may simply look more refined or balanced.

This philosophy is central to my approach to facial aesthetics: treatment should enhance your existing features rather than make you look like somebody else. My current website similarly describes the focus as subtle enhancement and preservation of facial harmony.

Where can I book a Nefertiti lift consultation in Warrington?

If you are considering treatment for reduced jawline definition, neck definition or lower-face ageing, the best starting point is an individual consultation.

At Dr Cotiga Aesthetic Clinic in Warrington, we can assess your anatomy, discuss your concerns and determine whether the Nefertiti lift — or another approach — is appropriate.

Good aesthetic medicine begins with choosing the right treatment for the patient, rather than simply performing the treatment they initially ask for.
